Over 59 years ago, John Harper, Sr. founded Harper Corporation in the back of a family-owned Williamston, SC hardware store. A Williamston native, Mr. Harper formed the company along with help from his brothers, Frank and Roy, son John Jr. and friend Randall P. Smith. He headed the company into the 1980's and stayed on even afterwards.

John Harper, Jr., known as John Junior, graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1950. He became president in 1982 and relocated the company to West Antrim Street in Greenville.

In 1990, Doug Harper, who graduated from Clemson in 1974 with a degree in construction science and management, took over the presidential helm at Harper Corp.

To add to the family tradition, John Harper, IV joined Harper Corporation in 2003. John IV graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Civil Engineering.

In addition to the generations of Harpers employed at Harper Corp., several employees are second and third generation.
